The Father’s Will
Matthew 21:28-32:
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not, ‘ but afterwards changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir, ‘but did not go. Which of the two did his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.”

I don’t know anyone that “gets it right” all of the time. No matter who we are or where we come from, we all fall short of the Glory of God this side of Heaven. And, it will always be that way until we are Home with Jesus. We all say, “no”, to God all too often in our lives. In fact, throughout today, you, me, and everyone else on this planet are going to deny the Father’s Will multiple times. It’s just part of living in the flesh. Perhaps we don’t believe that? God will place multiple tasks, people, and related in our Paths today and, while we’ll respond per His Will to each many times, there will also be many times where we don’t. Do we see every person as a Child of God and someone that Jesus came to die for? Perhaps…or, better yet, do we treat every person as a Child of the King? But, we shouldn’t despair, because that doesn’t mean that we can’t apologize to Him, ask His forgiveness, and, then, keep trying to Obey Him as often as possible. A Friend of mine suggested that when I say my Prayers each night before going to bed that I add a moment of confession where I ask God’s forgiveness to all of the ways that I failed Him that day. It’s like wiping away marker strokes on a dry-erase board. Now, we’ll often re-start “writing our Sins” on our mental dry-erase boards immediately after receiving God’s Graces, but there is no limit to God’s “forgiveness eraser”. So, rather than being too hard on ourselves and/or others, we should be sure to remember that Grace. No matter how hard we try, if we have Him in our hearts and continue to ask for His forgiveness, we can never out-sin God.

Gregg, I am not sure what text you are using, yet it is watered down text. When I read it in both the KJV and NKJV there is more power in the message. I suggest you use the NKJV. Jesus would not have used the word opinion, itis “What do you Think”, just as one example. “Opinion” was not a word used in that era. Opinions are not thought of as all that good in today’s time, do using it can harden a heart. Please think and pray about this. Love GOD and Love People.
