Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

Do you ever wonder, “Why did Jesus come to earth?” For many Believers, we would say that He came to redeem the lost; to Shepherd the scattered sheep; and/or to open the gates of Heaven to everybody who loves Jesus. But, there is another Reason that can sometimes be overshadowed by Him unlocking the Front Door to Eternity. Jesus also showed-up to simply show-up. It’s hard to Believe something or Someone that you cannot see directly. When we don’t witness an event first-hand, we often look for other witnesses who were “there”; who saw the events with their own eyes. What’s amazing is that there is no argument as to the existence of Jesus in His-story. Josephus, a Jewish historian and Pharisee, wrote this about Jesus, “About this time, there lived Jesus, a wise man. For He was One who wrought surprising feats and was a Teacher of such people as accept the Truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. When Pilate, upon hearing Him accused by men of the highest standing among us, had condemned Him to be crucified, those who had in the first place come to love Him did not give up their affection for Him. For the Prophets of God had prophesied these and countless other marvelous things about Him. And the tribe of Christians, so called after Him, has still to this day not disappeared.” You can also read about Jesus in the writings of Tacticus, a Roman historian. And, the Jewish Mishnah Work (200 A.D.) mentions Jesus, calling Him a false Prophet/Messiah who practiced magic (miracles) and was justly condemned to death (crucifixion). It also says He was a Teacher, had at least 5 Disciples, and that not all of the early Jewish leaders thought he was a fake. You see, Jesus came to turn the world upside down. The world needed “turning” and God Himself descended from His Throne, became a Man, and performed so many Miracles that the Apostle John said that all of the books in the entire world couldn’t hold of the Miracles on their pages. Jesus made the biggest Impression in His-story and He will come again to close this generation’s final chapter. That’s when He’ll make all things new – including us. So, let’s be sure to follow His example and, more importantly, to “share” His example. The world needs love; now more than ever. Let’s love God with all of our minds, hearts, and Souls and let’s love each other that same way – no matter what the cost in this world. Remember, it’s the cost in the next World that counts the most.
