Where Iron Sharpens Iron / Proverbs 27:17
As we continue our path during this Lenten Season, we need to remember that Jesus Christ gave us the best Gift that we could ever receive – He chose to be one of us. Max Lucado put this so well in his Bible Study, “He Chose the Nails”. Jesus gave up everything for us. Before He became baby in the Virgin Mary’s womb, He was timeless, boundless, and sinless. Jesus left Eternity for our finite world. He left being a Spirit that could go anywhere and be omnipresent to being trapped in a body. And, He was murdered for us, so that we could be transfigured into a Heavenly form when our bodies fail. He didn’t fly around or numb His pain. He cried. He was anxious the night before He died; so much so that He sweat blood. He was fully-human for us. Hillsong United puts it so eloquently in their song, “Touch the Sky”; “I found my life when I laid it down……I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground.” Complete and utter surrender is what we’re called to do. That, my Friends, is where Grace lays waiting for us. Jesus was the ultimate, infinite Example for all of us. As always, it’s a simple concept, but it’s not easy to do. Listen. Trust. Obey.
